After doing a little research it is, to me, as clear as a bell as to why the Steelers are 6-7 after 14 weeks of the '09 season after just winning the Super Bowl this past February. Sure our defense has been spotty. They've broken down at the most inopportune times and they've had some significant injuries. They are not the defense of '08, but then again, that defense was downright scary. Still, they are ranked fourth in the league and have only given up 19 TD's all year (15 pa, 4 ru). They have recorded 39 sacks, but only 8 interceptions. Don't kid yourself. This is still a very capable unit,and they are not the cause of the 6-7 record. Our offense is ranked 9th in the league right now. We are ranked 12th passing and 16th rushing. I would certainly like to have a better rushing ranking, but we weren't that great last year either, and we won the Super Bowl nonetheless. Not that it helps, but the four top rushing teams in the league are the Jets, Titans, Dolphins, and Panthers... The Kentucky Wildcats are the only 15-win team this season are are sitting on top of the Southeastern Conference.
