Free Agency and the Draft Unless the Chiefs find a very talented receiver or and great offensive linemen (good draft for offensive tackles) this organization should be focusing on defense with their top draft picks.Like every losing team in the NFL, the Chiefs need to choose players that ultimately make a positive impact. The Fighter, a film starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale that chronicles the lives of former professional boxers “Irish” Micky Ward and his older brother Dickie Eklund, is scheduled to premiere in theaters within the coming months. Wahlberg, born in the gritty Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, will portray Ward and Bale will playact Eklund. Ward (38-13, 27 KOs), a retired junior middleweight pugilist from Lowell, Mass., is one of the more popular fighters in recent memory because of his ability to absorb vicious punishment while he awaited for his opportunity to clobber his opponent. “Irish” Micky, 44, the winner of three New England Golden Gloves titles as an amateur, began his professional career with an unblemished mark of 14-0. After his initial success, Ward suffered a string of disheartening defeats and he decided to quit the sport in the early-1990’s. Following a three-year hiatus from the ring, Ward was convinced to return as a prizefighter by his half-brother, Eklund. Eklund (19-10, 4 KOs), a welterweight boxer who once floored the legendary “Sugar” Ray Leonard (36-3-1, 25 KOs) in a decision loss, had previously squandered his ample talents and he hung-up his gloves in 1985 after he succumbed to his crack cocaine addiction. Eklund’s life continued to spiral downward and he was eventually arrested and sentenced to 10-15 years in state prison for committing armed robbery. While in the pen, Eklund, 52, overcame his drug dependence and, for a period, bettered himself as a man. Upon successfully motivating his sibling, Eklund served as Ward’s trainer throughout the majority of his comeback. “It’s the true story of two incredibly gifted boxers who were half-brothers,” Bale said. He is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.. Punter needs filled with the absence of Mike Brandtner.Summary: The Cyclones seem prepared to build on their success. It's almost impossible to read, watch, or talk about basketball and not hear John Wall mentioned. He has captivated the country with his vast array of skills and endless amount of potential. He has every offensive component that a player can have. He can finish above the rim, shoot from the outside, and has great vision of the floor. One aspect of his game that doesn't get talked about enough is his defense. Like any rising prospect in any sport, the media wants someone to compare his game to. I realize that it is a necessity to relate his game to someone else so we can understand it. However, I don't think we can do him justice by comparing him to any other player because his game is so unique.First, lets talk about some of the players he is compared to and the reasons why. The Calipari connection is obvious with Tyreke Evans and Derrick Rose. All three of them have a similar build and areover-sized point guards. The Dwyane Wade comparison makes sense because of the similar build and all around game that they both posses. The Rajon Rondo comparison also makes sense because of the Kentucky connection and their defensive abilities. All of these comparisons are justified to a point. However, I don't think any of these players posses the trait that makes John Wall's game so unique.John Wall is the only player I have ever seen that dominates the transition game both on offense and defense. His speed allows him to cover more ground than anyone else on the court during a possession. His vision allows him to findteammates and weave through the defense effortlessly. His ability to play the passing lanes allows him to cheat off his area and play help defense all over the court. Although some of the players mentioned above can do some of these things on the court, they can only do it on one end of the floor. Rose does not have the instincts on defense to play the passing lanes. Wade does not have the speed to lead the break on offense. Rondo does not have the ball handling skills to cut through the defense. All of these skills in the transition game create the key ingredient that makes Wall's game so unique. As the game of basketball continues to center around athleticism, John Wall's style of play could be what dominates it.. Pryor suffered an ankle injury against New Mexico State, and recently disclosed he had also been playing with a torn PCL this season. 19 team in total defense in 2009 was Wisconsin: They ran 729 total defensive plays and allowed 5.11 yards per play. While the Auburn defense could certainly use improvement, the offense performed quite well when compared to the rest of the nation.Auburn has addressed the shortfalls of the defense with excellent targeted recruiting.
